It looks like HTC are set to make some big announcements this week at their "Double Exposure" event taking place this Wednesday. The most high profile bit of news we’re expecting is the announcement of the HTC Desire Eye. Speculation is rife that this phone will be HTC’s attempt to win over customers with the prospect of the best selfies they could possibly wish for.
The Desire Eye is tipped to feature a 13 mega-pixel front facing camera with dual-LED flash. With the trend of selfies showing no sign of abating, it seems HTC is hoping to make the most of it. Other specifications on the rumour mill include a large 5.2 inch full-hd display (no point taking great selfies if you can’t admire them fully afterwards), quad-core snapdragon 801, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory.
The other big announcement causing a stir, is what is believed to be HTC’s attempt to cash in on the action video market by releasing a competitor to the GoPro. The teaser video from the RECamera website gives us a focus on action, kicking off very obviously with some underwater shots to let us know it’ll be waterproof. Whether or not HTC can have the clout to make an impact on an area that is dominated in such a high profile manner by GoPro remains to be seen.
What are your thoughts on emphasis HTC are placing on the Desire Eye’s selfie quality? Would it be enough to sway your decision on your next phone?
